What I learned about TWITTER AND FACEBOOK
Notes taken from Team Thrive Tele-seminar on Monday 3-16-09. Randall Benson -- www.yourgeekguy.com was the presenter. Twitter- It is about building relationships! The fact you are walking your dog, going to a movie, or going to sleep for the night is not important. What is important that you start building relationships with others on your followers list. Go ahead and jump in on conversations. - "Going to Braums for ice cream" "My favorite is the Mint Chocolate Chip, what is your favorite flavor"? Ask lots of open ended questions - Do you have plans for the weekend? Anyone use ACT software to keep track of customers? Twitter facts: 1.Twitter is easy to gain followers. 2.It is better to have more following you than you are following. It attracts more new followers. I had the opposite so I went in and stopped following the folks that never respond or that are following me. Choose the ones that you can benefit from the most. Randall says he has over 1700 followers but he only has about 100 or so that he has relationships with. Randall said that if you need to purge your following list, don't do it more than once per month. 3.Broadcast your presence. YOU'RE NOT A ROBOT! Robots just send out messages, usually trying to sell something. This is why you should build relationships and make comments like, "I am a K.C. Chiefs fan, even when they are not winning". They know that you are a real person and not a robot. 4.Word of mouth marketing. Posting on Twitter is a great way to get your name and business out there. Every time you post to Twitter, Google indexes the topic. This definitely helps with traffic. Make sure when you are commenting, offering advice, or responding to a DM to include a link that takes them back to your site. Try and post to Twitter 3-4 time per day. Set aside a time to do it. 5.Check out Tweet Deck. It is a Twitter indexing page. Great way to get to your niche. Facebook facts: DON'T SPAM!!! I am tired of all these self promotions, videos, products, and the such. If every message is a self promoting ad, NOT GOOD! I have had several people who every message is an ad, there is nothing personal to it. I delete them as fast as possible. Social media is about building relationships. Now if people are endorsing you, that is awesome. If you are sharing information and being personal and building relationships people will share your information with others. This is what social media is all about. This is how you will increase business from social media. Zig Ziglar - You Can Only Get What You Want, If You Help Enough Other People Get What They Want. What are you doing? Tell me your thoughts! Talk about others! Share photos. Share videos. SHARE DONT SELL! (SPAM) This is what I learned from listening to Randall on the Team Thrive call. You can listen to Team Thrive every Monday evening at 9 PM CDT.
