Three P's of Meetings

If you have ever watched a relay team at a track and field event, I'm sure you can recall a time when the highly favored team didn't even come close to winning the event. The reason? Nearly 100% of the time it is due to a poor transfer of the baton from one person to the other. Even hours and hours of focus on creating the perfect hand-off can prove ineffective if not executed properly when it matters most. The same can hold true in our attempt to conduct an effective meeting--whether it be a group or one-on-one meeting. If we attempt to wing it, it will be obvious…if not immediately, at the very least eventually. While many of us have the gift of "shooting from the hip", it is a poor long-term strategy. This gift can go from being used sporadically--only as a last resort--to a habitual way of conducting a meeting. It is my belief that this will surely be regretful in the end.
